MODULE TWO - WRITERS AND ISO 9000 IMPLEMENTATION
The Recommended Documentation Structure (continued)
Characteristics of Level II Documentation
Level II documentation is more detailed than Level I, and
usually consists of approximately three to four pages per clause/subclause
of the standard. This documentation defines what is done, where
it is done, when it is done, and who does it.
Level II documentation should define the process owner (the
person responsible for the technical content of the document), and all
areas whose work impacts the process. A key component of an ISO-compliant
quality management system, Quality Records, are often identified at this
level however, in many cases, this occurs in the work instruction, or
Level III documentation. This level of documentation is where writers
often use process maps to assist in understanding the overall scope of
the process - a practice this teacher heartily recommends.
