MODULE TWO - WRITERS AND ISO 9000 IMPLEMENTATION

Documentation Inventory

A successful business cannot exist today without some documentation: it's quite possible your organization has too much documentation! In many instances organizations have large quantities of documentation, but still fall short of meeting the requirements of ISO. Why? Because they don't have the right type of documentation, or they have procedures in many different parts of the company describing the same process, but not all the processes of the organization are documented.

The first step in developing ISO 9000 documentation is to determine just what documentation your organization possesses. Once you have determined what you have, then you can analyze it to see if it meets the requirements of the ISO 9000 and your business. Remember, the first priority of documenting your processes and procedures is to meet the needs of the company; the meeting of ISO's requirements should come second!
