We build Yellow Brick Roads

Our company began in 1991 as a Total Quality Management consultancy because that's where my passion said we needed to go. But, pretty quickly, our customers told us to go somewhere else. (No, it's not where you think!)

ISO 9000 was where they wanted us to go. Since I had amassed nearly 30 years experience living and operating under MIL-Q-9858A-type quality systems (the sire of the ISO 9000 specs), I knew I had something of real value to offer.

I knew how good quality systems were supposed to work.  And since much of my experience was in the contract's management arena, I had something of even greater value to offer: I could help my customers avoid the trap of reading and interpreting the ISO 9000 standard like Philadelphia lawyers. Who better to recognize the sin than a former sinner?  I was able to keep them from obsessing on the trees so they could see the forest.

In 1997, we went on the world wide web and became known, worldwide, as the place for "free quality stuff." We used our site to publish guidance, tips and tutorials about a wide range of quality management practices. All free. We opened it up to other quality practitioners to give them an arena in which they could share their ideas.

In 1999, we added Applications for purchase at our web site. These are tools, like checklists, sample manuals, process flow charts, procedures, forms, process assessment instruments and presentations for training personnel  in a variety of quality related topics and disciplines. They cover ISO 9000, ISO 13485, AS 9100, and ISO/TS16949.

In 2001, we changed our name to Source4Quality, Inc.

At the same time, we founded QECUS to serve as the independent marketing representative and ISO 9000 registration facilitator in the United States for a UKAS accredited certification body, Quality and Environmental Certification, Ltd. (QEC-UK). QECUS identifies and schedules registration projects and assigns them to qualified auditors who are approved by and operate under the direct control of QEC(UK).

By 2003, we had come full circle back to our TQM vision.  We are presently engaged in two separate projects.

The first involves development and implementation of a Malcolm Baldrige-based Total Quality Management System for a large non-profit social service organization.

In the second, we are working with a small, unionized unit of a major manufacturer to train and guide Self-Managed Work Teams.

In 2004,  we will be inaugurating a full complement of public and on-site seminars and workshops for manufacturers of medical devices.

Our Guiding Beliefs

    * Profit is defined as  "an increase in satisfaction". Therefore, there is no such animal as a true "Non-profit Organization"; at least by design.
    * The purpose of every organization (enterprise or otherwise) is to create Profit. Its function is to create Satisfied Customers. Therefore, a "good quality management system" must serve both masters!
    * To get your own Emerald City, predictably and consistently, build a Yellow Brick Road.
    * The only solutions are practical solutions. Everything else is a waste of time and money.

Our Emerald City

We are committed to maintaining a quality system (Yellow Brick Road) which is integrated with the business system and enables us to:

    * identify customer needs for improving quality, performance and productivity,
    * determine how best to meet those needs, and
    * do so in a way that results in a mutual increase in satisfaction.
